As part of its Disneyland Forward initiative, The Walt Disney Company has committed to invest nearly $2 billion in its west coast amusement complex over the next decade. New details have been released regarding several previously-announced attractions including rides themed to the Pixar animated film 'Coco' and the 'Avatar' franchise.

The Coco attraction is coming to the Paradise Gardens Park area of Disney California Adventure. This land on the southwest side of the park encompasses existing attractions like Goofy's Sky School and Ariel's Undersea Adventure. Disney's announcement indicates that the attraction will be added to areas which are currently "backstage" and not accessible to guests.

Concept art for the Coco attraction (above) appears to show the Incredicoaster in the background, suggesting a location south of Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta which extends back into the offstage access road to the south and west. Prior images depicted a boat ride concept for the unnamed Coco attraction. Work is set to begin late in 2025.

Elsewhere, the Avatar themed experience is now slated for the Hollywood Land section of the park. In order to make room for the new attraction, Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sully to the Rescue will permanently close sometime in early 2026.  Disney previously announced Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab as additions to nearby Avengers Campus. The Sorcerer's Workshop portion of Hollywood Land's animation building closed in late 2023 to help accommodate the new Avengers attractions.
