Common areas of Disney's Contemporary Resort and neighboring Bay Lake Tower will be subject to renovations well into 2026, but the updates to Disney Vacation Club villas are still running on schedule.
Disney recently issued an operational update for the Contemporary, indicating that select areas of the resort will be subject ot refurbishment through July 2026. No specifics have been shared but projects of this nature may include the building exterior, lobby and other amenities. Workers will use barriers and scrims to minimize the impact on guests, but some visual and auditory disruption is likely.
This does not impact ongoing refurbishment of the DVC villas at Bay Lake Tower. The hard goods renovation began back in September 2024 and is still expected to wrap-up around September 2025. All DVC villas are being updated with new pull-down Murphy sofa beds, flooring, artwork and more. About 1/2 of the villas have been updated at this time and another 1/4 are expected to reopen in the coming weeks.
From January to May, 2026 the Bay Cove Pool, Cove Bar and water play area will be closed for refurbishment. During this closure, the Contemporary main pool and the Bay Lake Pool will remain open for guest use.
