Preparations may be under way for guest room refurbishment at the original Disney Vacation Club Resort.
Website Allears.net reports that Disney has filed a Notice of Commencement for work at Disney's Old Key West Resort. During the 2025 condominium association meeting, Disney Vacation Club executives indicated that the resort was primed for a guest room refurbishment in the coming months. According to the standard 7-year refurbishment schedule, the resort is due for a lighter refresh with only modest changes to floor coverings, wall coverings, linens and decor. However DVC suggested work may expand to kitchens, bathrooms and other areas of the villas.
The permit specifically points to building 11 at Old Key West. The named contractor is Friedrich Watkins Company, who has recently handled refurbishment projects at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort and The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.
There is no word on exactly when work will begin or the expected timeline.
